The Tsinghua Delegation's Visit to Macau Garnered Significant Attention, Particularly Focusing on the Subsidiary of GSAFETY
In the brisk economic recovery of early autumn, Macau welcomed a delegation from the Institute of Public Safety Research of Tsinghua University led by Academician Fan Weicheng. During the visit, Academician Fan also held a special lecture on the theme of "Technological Support for Public Safety Assurance."
To promote the integration of modern technology and public safety, and to enhance the efficiency and level of public safety work, Academician Fan Weicheng's team was invited to hold a special lecture on the theme of "Technological Support for Public Safety Assurance" at the Macau Unitary Police Service on August 22nd. The lecture invited Academician Fan Weicheng, a member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and the dean of the Institute of Public Safety Research, Tsinghua University, as the keynote speaker.

As a significant event in Macau's public safety domain, the lecture received high attention and attendance from top leaders such as Mr. Leong Man Cheong, Commissioner General of the Macau Unitary Police Service, and Mr. Huang Wenzhong, Director General of the Macau Customs Service. Additionally, it attracted a total of 120 participants, including representatives from civil defense departments, community Civil Protection Framework Departments, and civil protection volunteers. With the support of Civil Protection Framework and community organizations, 34 online live streaming points were set up on-site, allowing up to 500 people to watch the live broadcast simultaneously.

In his address, Commissioner Leong Man Cheong emphasized the crucial role of technology in ensuring public safety in today's rapidly advancing technological era. He highlighted the importance for civil defense members to continuously explore innovations and leverage the power of technology to better address new challenges and support public safety, ensuring the security of residents and visitors alike. Commissioner General Leong expressed confidence that Professor Fan Weicheng and the team from the Institute of Public Safety Research of Tsinghua University could provide valuable insights and inspiration to civil defense workers in Macau through their professional knowledge and experience sharing.
During the specialized lecture, Professor Fan Weicheng elaborated on the topic of "Technological Support for Public Safety Assurance," analyzing the frequent occurrence of various security incidents worldwide, where security and development have become two major demands for nations. Through discussions on several themes such as defining the field of public safety, the experience of constructing public safety and national security systems, emergency platforms, and talent cultivation in security, Professor Fan enabled attendees to clearly understand the three key points of development in public safety technology: scientific management, technological equipment, and the importance of security culture. These key points assist emergency departments in making decisions in terms of space, time, method, and intensity, thereby achieving precise security and enhancing the ability to foresee, assess, and respond to various crisis events.

The specialized lecture effectively enabled members of the Civil Protection Framework, representatives of community civil defense contact mechanisms, and civil defense volunteers in Macau to understand the significant demand for national public safety technology assurance and the crucial supportive role of technology in the field of public safety. Through this lecture, participants gained a deeper understanding of the important advancements in China's public safety technology, enhancing their awareness of the scientific, necessary, and efficient aspects of public safety management. This event played a positive role in promoting the technological development of public safety in Macau.

During his visit to Macau, Professor Fan Weicheng specifically visited colleagues from the GSAFETY Macau and expressed that the subsidiary has been committed to providing advanced technological support for public safety work in Macau. He hoped that colleagues from the Macau subsidiary would continue to uphold the concept of "Technology Empowering Safety," constantly innovate, and enhance their technical capabilities. Professor Fan emphasized that the GSAFETY Macau should continue to serve as a bridge between the Institute of Public Safety Research of Tsinghua University and various departments in the Macau security sector, making greater contributions to Macau's public safety undertakings.
